When a picture looks rich in narrative, we ask the artist what the story is behind it. We listen patiently while they dictate and then we copy their story onto the back of their picture so they can share it with others! Here is a great example done recently by Abby, 6 years old:
Once upon a time the magic kitty is being hurt by an invisible lion. The lion gave the kitty a different color body- green. The lion is very, very, very, VERY EVIL!!! The lion doesn’t like kitties and will eat them.
The Momma kitty will protect the little kitty. The mommy doesn’t like the lion.
